01 · Hand cleaning

Full-immersion hand washing

Machines and steam damage the very fibers they claim to clean. We wash by hand, the way rugs have been washed for centuries — soft water, pH-balanced soap, and patience.

Reweaving & structural repair

Moth damage, flood, a worn end, a chewed corner — few rugs are truly beyond saving. Our master restorers match wool, dye, and weave to make repairs all but invisible.

How often should a handmade rug be professionally cleaned?

Most handmade rugs benefit from professional cleaning every one to three years, depending on traffic, pets, spills and environmental conditions.

Do you steam-clean Persian or Oriental rugs?

No. The Rug Center uses controlled hand-cleaning methods selected for each rug construction, fibers and dyes.

Can damaged fringe and edges be repaired?

Yes. Services include fringe repair, edge stabilization, reweaving, reknotting and treatment of moth, pet or water damage after inspection.

Do you provide written rug appraisals?

Yes. Documented appraisals are available for insurance, estate planning and personal records.
