The Rug Center is a family gallery of handcrafted Oriental, Persian, and contemporary rugs — sourced worldwide with integrity, appraised with candor, and cared for by hand from our Mountain View showroom.
Founded in 1980, The Rug Center was built on a simple idea: offer exceptional rugs at the best possible value, with outstanding service. Our goal is not simply to sell rugs — it is to help every customer find the rug of their dreams.
For more than forty years our founder, Javeed Chaudhry, has travelled the world studying rug traditions and building relationships with master weavers. Every rug we offer is inspected, cared for, and honestly appraised before it reaches your floor.

A rotating selection from the gallery. Each is one of a kind; when it is gone, it is gone.

Full-immersion hand-washing with pH-balanced soap and soft water — never machines, never harsh chemicals. Grit lifted, dyes revived, fringe restored.
Reweaving, reknotting, edge and fringe repair, and moth or flood recovery by master restorers. We save rugs others have written off.
Honest, documented valuations for insurance, estate, or curiosity — from a family that will tell you when a rug is worth loving but not insuring.
